Gordon Stueck, Pharmacist

Gordon Stueck, Pharmacist at Stueck Pharmacy in Leader, SKGordon graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (with Distinction). He obtained his Certificate in Hospital Residency at Pasqua Hospital in Regina in 1975 and continued as a staff pharmacist for the South Saskatchewan Health Complex. Part of his responsibilities included the development of protocol and oversight at the Plains Health Centre prior to its opening in 1976. Ironically, the Saskatchewan Government closed this facility in 2000 in order to save money.

From 1977-1990 Gordon farmed in the Climax district in southern Saskatchewan but kept in touch with his pharmacy roots by working throughout the area as a relief pharmacist. It was during that time he developed a pharmacy program (as a self-taught programmer) to manage a pharmacy dispensary which had an initial installed base of twenty three Saskatchewan stores. In 1985 Gordon entered into an agreement with Tri-Comp Systems of Saskatoon to act as consulting pharmacist in the design of a new generation of pharmacy software. With an installed base approaching one thousand users in 2003, Gordon is pleased to see his earlier efforts were not in vain.

In 1990, Gordon, his wife Michele and daughter Ashley left the farm and purchased a pharmacy in Leader, Saskatchewan. Active in the community, Gordon is President of the Leader Board of Trade, a member of the Leader Lions Club and past Board member of the Great Sandhills Terminal Group.

Gordon’s work in the pharmacy on behalf of his patients has been recognized by provincial and national pharmacy associations:

1995 – Pharmacist of the Year (Saskatchewan Pharmaceutical Association) for his national initiatives on behalf of food banks.

1997 – Commitment to Care Award for Patient Care (Pharmacy Practice – national professional journal)
